Canine Rescue Dinner
ALL IN AID OF A DOG'S LIFE
April 17th 2009 must go down in a dog's life as one of the best days ever. Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue held a charity fund raising event at Casa Mia in Nunholm, Dumfries and raised almost £3500.
The restaurant prepared and played host to a packed house and it turned out to be the biggest and best night ever for the Glencaple based rescue organisation.
After the very best of food and wine the fun filled evening started off with the very best in live entertainment from local music duo Otis Jones. Well known for creating a party atmosphere, the "Kilted Duo of Pop" kept the dancers on the floor from the start to the very end.
A short break from the music made time for entertainments of a different genre, an auction. Hosted by special guest, BBC Scotland's football pundit and Sun columnist, Des McKeown who was, as always Mr Entertainment himself ! The jokes and anecdotes were flowing as much as the wine. Everyone was well aware that Des was no stranger to Dumfries as he was once a much valued player for Queen of the South. The funds raised from the night reached record levels, glasses topped up and the dancers took to the floor until the wee small hours.
Kevin Love, Marketing Manager at Casa Mia said "It has been renowned success. Each and every person I have spoken to has told me how much they enjoyed the evening and how much they are looking forward to the next event"
A spoke person from the Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre said "This was a night we will all be talking about for a very long time. The staff at Casa Mia were exceptional and we could not have picked a more perfect venue to hold our event. The Rescue Centre would like to thank everyone who attended and I'm sure we all agree this night has been the most enjoyable way to raise funds"
The Canine Rescue Centre will be holding a Fun Day Dog Show on Saturday, May 30 at The Kennels Dovecotewells Glencaple. Join in the fun and competitions and the stalls and food with entertainment from The Sensational Mary Barclay Band and West Sounds Bruce McKenzie
